Jamnagar Murder Mystery: Skeleton Found Buried 12 Feet Underground After 2 Years

Jamnagar mystery: Skeleton found under factory floor reveals an alleged murder hidden for two years.

Recently, a shocking murder case came to light in Jamnagar, Gujarat, after police found a human skeleton buried about 12 feet below the concrete floor of a factory. Investigators believe the body had been hidden there for nearly two years. Because of the way the body was concealed, many people have compared the case to the Bollywood film Drishyam.

Police believe the skeleton is that of Jignesh Mavadiya, who had been missing for around two years. Jignesh had married Pruthvi, also known as Bhoomi, in a love marriage seven years ago. The couple had two daughters. After living in Dwarka and Porbandar, they finally settled in Jamnagar.

For about a year after moving to Jamnagar, Jignesh stayed in regular contact with his family. Then, all communication suddenly stopped. Whenever relatives asked Bhoomi where he was, she gave different answers. Later, she claimed that Jignesh had gone to Australia for work and could not contact anyone because of his job.

The family believed her story for almost two years. However, when a relative planned to travel to Australia and asked for Jignesh's contact details, Bhoomi could not provide them. The family then warned that they would file a missing person's complaint.

Before they could do so, Bhoomi called Jignesh's elder brother, Ashok Mavadiya, for a meeting on 24 July 2026. She arrived with a man named Nilesh Kachhatiya. According to police, Bhoomi and Nilesh admitted that they, along with Nilesh's associate Balveer Verma, had killed Jignesh around two years earlier and asked the family to stop searching for him.

Ashok immediately informed his family and approached the police. A missing person's complaint was registered on 26 July, and police began a detailed investigation.

During the investigation, police found that Jignesh had attended a liquor party at a factory in the Dared GIDC industrial area on 31 May 2024. According to investigators, a poisonous substance was secretly mixed into his alcohol as part of a planned murder. After his death, the accused allegedly buried his body inside a 12-foot-deep pit in the factory and covered it with a concrete floor to hide the evidence.

Police said Bhoomi told investigators that she was unhappy because of frequent fights with Jignesh and sought Nilesh's help. They also believe Nilesh involved his associate, Balveer Verma, in carrying out the plan.

Based on information gathered during the investigation, police used heavy machines to dig up the factory floor on 29 July. Human skeletal remains were recovered and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). A DNA test is now being carried out to confirm the identity of the remains.

So far, police have arrested three people: Bhoomi (27), Jignesh's wife; Nilesh Mansukh Kachhatiya (36), her alleged lover; and Balveer Deviram Verma (41), a labourer from Uttar Pradesh working in Jamnagar. The investigation is still ongoing.

The case has also raised questions about the paternity of the couple's younger daughter. Police are investigating whether Jignesh was the biological father or whether Nilesh could be the father. This has not yet been confirmed.
